Why study at University Paris Nanterre?
For its premium training programs promoting students success and the integration of graduates into the professional world
A guarantee of the excellence of its courses is their affiliation to one of the institution's 43 research units, which encompass all academic fields. This fundamental link between education and research ensures that the latest advances in research are integrated into course content and guarantees students’ gradual introduction to research throughout their course. As a recognised research university, University Paris Nanterre bases the quality of its courses primarily on permanent exchanges between degree courses and research activities carried out within the institution.
The success and completion of all students’ professional projects (undergraduates, postgraduates and students resuming their studies) are priority objectives for the institution, which will be further reinforced from 2024 onwards through the actions carried out as part of the Accelerations and UNISSON projects, of which University Paris Nanterre was awarded funding by the France 2030 call for projects.

For the possibilities offered for individualising academic pathways, in particular through international experience
The University Paris Nanterre's range of courses is structured in such a way as to provide all students with a common grounding, either through shared learning or through the systematic attention paid to linguistic and cross-disciplinary skills in the curricula. Nonetheless, it is also designed to allow students to tailor their studies to their individual needs, with a choice of a foreign language courses from among 8 languages (LANSAD), and courses or activities in addition to those included in the course syllabus, in the form of a 'diploma bonus'. Sports, internships, courses in modern or ancient languages, training for associative leaders, as well as distance learning courses in foreign languages are all offered and listed in the catalogue available here.
This individualisation of the academic pathway can also take the form of international experiences, made possible in particular by University Paris Nanterre's membership in the EDUC European alliance. Opportunities for physical mobility are offered as part of Erasmus agreements or specific exchange agreements, as well as virtual mobility, summer schools and occasional remote attendance to courses taught by partner universities. Finally, because individualised academic pathways sometimes also mean the possibility of taking a break between two years of study, all students can apply for a gap year between two academic years by submitting a reasoned application.
For a unique living and study environment in the Paris Region
University Paris Nanterre offers its students a rare gem in the Paris region: a 32-hectare green campus with, alongside the teaching facilities, a theatre, a network of libraries at the heart of the campuses, a museum and archive centre (La Contemporaine) and a complete sports complex (gymnasium, swimming pool, climbing wall, etc.). These facilities contribute to the richness of the institution's community, cultural and sporting life. The establishment's other two sites, in Ville d'Avray and Saint-Cloud, are also renowned for the quality of the infrastructure they provide, both for educational purposes (in particular specific rooms for practical training) and beyond.
