The Educards project: implementation of the European student card within the EDUC Alliance

The Educards project aims at implementing the European Student Card (ESC) for the six universities which are part of the European Digital UniverCity (EDUC). This is an important step in the digitalization of Erasmus student mobility.

►Partners:

  • University of Rennes 1 (project coordinator)
  • University of Potsdam (Germany)
  • University Paris Nanterre (France)
  • Masaryk University (Czech Republic)
  • University of Cagliari (Italy)
  • University of Pécs (Hungary)

What is the European Student Card?

The EEC is based on the creation of a European identifier integrated with a digital infrastructure that will allow students to use their current student card to access the services of the host university in the same way as local students, thus reducing administrative formalities. Through this process, the visiting student will have established their digital identity in the host university's information system, making the entire mobility process easier for all parties involved.

The approach of the Educards partners will allow the transposition of the experience gained from the experimentation so that other higher education institutions can implement the European student card more easily. Eventually, we hope that the 160,000 students of the EDUC Alliance will benefit from the European student card and from an easier access to the different services within the EDUC universities, thus allowing a simplified and better quality approach of their student pathway at the European level.

The Educards project is a strategic partnership project (KA203) funded by the European program Erasmus +.

Structure of the Educards project

3 main objectives:
  1. To experiment a methodological framework for the implementation of the European student card.
  2. To facilitate the use of the card by students.
  3. To optimize and improve the implementation of the European student card.

Activities carried out in the framework of the Educards project

  1. Organization of 4 learning and practice exchange mobilities aiming at increasing the skills and expertise of the staff involved in the project.
  2. Collaborative work on the implementation of the map and the production of deliverables:
    - Development of a methodology for the implementation of the EEC applicable to all higher education institutions.
    - Creation of a "CEE user manual" for students.
    - Report on the first year of experimentation of the EWC within the universities members of the project.
  3. Organization of a final seminar of the project.
