Accommodation for international students TEST

Our Welcome Desk provides information and support to all international students arriving at the University Paris Nanterre.

Where to stay in the parisian region?

The housing situation is very difficult in the Paris region. In order to increase your possibilities, we recommend that you be flexible about your geographical location, and not limit your search to the vicinity of Nanterre (see the "Practical Life" section to find out which cities are on the lines serving Nanterre University).

Please note that our Welcome Desk does not offer accommodation in Paris and very little in Nanterre, we offer you accommodation solutions further away but accessible, and for a more economic price. To know the ideal areas according to your budget, you can consult this article (Journal Le Monde, article publié le 15 novembre 2019).

How much does housing cost in the parisian region?

Accommodation in the Paris region costs a minimum of 500 euros per month (the price varies depending on the geographical area), so plan on a budget that is sufficient to house you without counting on the APL (financial aid for housing): they are not guaranteed and always take several months to be paid.

Beware of scams: never send money to a private owner. Give preference to official student residences, and professional accommodation providers, and if you want to book an accommodation for a private owner, take the necessary precautions (ask for proof of any payment you make as well as a rental contract). If you have any doubts, do not hesitate to contact us: welcomedesk@liste.parisnanterre.fr

When to apply for accommodation?

University Paris Nanterre has set up various partnerships to assist international students in their search for accommodation, If you need assistance, please send us a request 3 months before the start of your semester.

How to apply for accommodation?

Exchange Students

When your institution has sent us your nomination, you will receive a link to make your MoveON application online. In this form you will find a section on accommodation where you can indicate that you would like help in finding accommodation. You must fill in this form at least 3 months before the start of the semester. At the end of the application period, the Welcome Desk will contact you to inform you of the possible options.

Free-Movers Newcomers (not exchange students)

The Welcome Desk's assistance is reserved for students admitted to the University Paris Nanterre. We give priority to applications from first-time students. We can provide you with leads to find long-term accommodation in Ile-de-France but we are currently unable to book accommodation with our private partners, whose availability is strictly limited to short and medium-term stays.

What are the housing options?

► YOU ARE AN EXCHANGE STUDENT

  • CROUS - University residence on campus
The CROUS is an organisation providing social student housing. This housing is reserved for French students with scholarships in priority, but our university benefits from some housing reserved for our exchange students.
Note: the rooms available are basic, with a surface area of 9m² with a bathroom corner and the kitchen (one per floor) is shared with all residents.

If you are under 30 years old, you can apply for a room in the Nanterre campus residence via the MoveON form only. This must be completed before the application deadline (your application for accommodation will not be considered in case of late application). If you are over 30 years old, you do not have access to this option.

Please note that residence places are very limited, we cannot guarantee a room to all exchange students, accommodation is reserved for students with low income, please only apply if you meet this criterion. Please note that rooms will be allocated for a maximum period of one academic year and cannot be renewed under any circumstances. No need to contact the CROUS, they will not take your applications. The International Relations Office will manage your application and assist you with the process.
